What a day! What a game! What a team! Simply the best! I am so so proud of these bunch of lads and their supporters. They gave the game absolutely everything, played out of their skins and boy! was it worth it?

Today In Clonakilty , Derrinacahara and Kilcoe national school played in a mighty fought final. Both teams played outstanding football throughout the game. Derrinacahara started strong and knocked over two points but kilcoe stayed with them. At half time it was level 1.3 to 1.3. From the 2nd half whistle Derrinacahara pushed on straight away and were the stronger team. Kilcoe forced a few shots wide however keith McCarthy and Alan Crowley kicked great points with Keith scoring a cracking goal. Keith McCarthy was up and down the pitch scoring goals and points and his performance was outstanding. Aidan O Driscoll and Conor Vassallo were at the fore front on the defence with great tackles and blocks put in thoughout the game but especially in the 2nd half. Shane o Sullivan in goal, was quick off his line three or four times and his kicks out picked out Keith and Ryan O’Leary a lot of the time. Ryan worked wonderfully with Keith with lovely kick passes and assisted Keith to score points and goals with Michael Daly up front working hard and winning ball..kilcoe were still strong in the 2nd half and played some lovely football working with eachother but when Alan Crowley Derriacahata’s captain scored a sublime goal picked out by keith with a super kick pass they lacked off and Derrinacahara got stronger.. Derrinacahara never let up and pushed on playing free flowing football and finished with a score of 6.9. They were just too strong at the end for kilcoe who scored 3.9 which would win any game but Derrinacahara were brilliant from the outset and were well deserved winners.
