Santa Claus will be so impressed! I am very impressed! ♥ ♥ Huge ‘Míle Buíochas to Miss O’Sullivan, Jacqui, Anne and Aoife and to my marvellous elves from Rang a Sé who helped the younger children with their baking. I think some of these pictures illustrate clearly what we are about in Derrinacahara.  Kind, caring, courteous children, always considerate of each other and the adults who work with them. I am genuinely so, so proud of them all. Maith sibh! Táim chomh bródúil asaibh.

Great fun today with Rowing Ireland and Cork Sports Partnership at Fr. Matthew Arena in Cork. Our 4th, 5th and 6th class children took part in a rowing blitz where one of our teams came in well ahead of their rivals. Comhghairdeas! Well done to all our participants who gave it 100% as always. Check out some more pics by clicking Menu and then clicking on our ‘Active Flag’ page.

Lets go rowing!

What an amazing night we had in The Parkway Hotel on Wednesday December 5th! The children from Junior & Senior Infants as well as Ranganna I agus II performed a wonderful musical entitled ‘Little Angel Gets His Wings’. We are so, so proud of our talented children in Derrinacahara. They are an absolute credit to their parents and their teacher Miss Carol O’Driscoll.

Buttermaking with Mr. Noonan

Mr. Noonan with Infants and Rang a haon made Derrinacahara’s very own butter today! With cream from Carbery, everyone had their turn at shaking the cream until the butter and buttermilk separated to make tasty butter for our scones. So tasty and delicious that they were all gone by the time we got around to taking a photo!

We are delighted to have been selected to participate in the Cork Primary Schools Get Going…Get Rowing Programme with Rowing Ireland and Cork Sports Partnership. Today, 4th, 5th and 6th classes travelled to The National Rowing Centre at Farran Woods. Ellen, our coach put the children through their paces on the rowing machines and then showed them how to ‘warm down’ afterwards. It was wonderful for the children to gaze out on the stretch of the River Lee where Sunita, Gary, Paul, Shane, Mark and all our heroes row every day. Huge ‘Thank You’ to Cork Sports Partnership and Rowing Ireland for  facilitating these workshops for us. Healthy body, healthy mind 🚣‍♂️

Lots of fungi on our river walk. Féach ar an dath atá ar an gceann seo! Nach bhfuil sé go hálainn?

Hard to see it on this photo but the holly tree behind is laden down with berries! Take 5 minutes to stroll along our river walk! Tóg sos beag duit féin! 🍄🌻🍁

Céad Míle Fáilte

A huge welcome to our new Junior Infants who started off in Derrinacahara N.S. today. Lovely to see them all beautifully turned out in their uniforms!

Here are a few more photos from Miss O’Driscoll’s room.

Look at this for dedication to work on their first day back!! Ranganna a cúig agus a sé ag obair go dian! Ag cur allais leis an méad oibre 🤣 🤣👏🏻👏🏻
